Older Women’s Wisdom, Collective Action: Fund the Future

We support our partners with an ethos of mutuality and respect, and an understanding that the individuals and communities engaged in the work are the experts on what they need, and how best to utilize the support and solidarity we exist to provide. Recognizing our geographic location and the power dynamic inherent to being a funder, our support to initiatives centres the work of community-led organizations, and is grounded in respect for the leadership and guidance of Grandmothers, older women and Elderwomen, human rights, social justice and solidarity, not charity. We learn from and contribute to our partners’ work through a commitment to relationship building and a constant vigilance around the ‘power-over’ that has historically accompanied philanthropy and grantmaking.
Our Advisory Council is comprised of Elderwomen experts in decolonizing and promoting equality in relationships of funding, philanthropy, programming, knowledge-sharing, intersectional feminist and transformational movements and projects, and deep insights into the ways in which older women make critical contributions to the well-being of our families, communities, societies, systems, structures and and the political landscapes in which we operate.
